Songwriting and Guitar Bootcamp on Whidbey Island
This will be my second year teaching at the Whidbey Island home of Grethe Cammermeyer and Diane Divelbess.
We start wednesday evening with dinner, a meet and greet and a few exercises. Then we work all day thursday, thursday night is my concert, work all day friday, friday night is the hootenanny and finish up saturday late afternoon. It's great fun, great creativity and quite inspiring!

GUITAR BOOT CAMP
"Learning new techniques to fit your skill level"
I will teach you the elements of travis-style finger-picking as well as other forms you may be interested in. You must have some experience with guitar, even if only chords and strumming. This part of the workshop will weave around the songwriting but there is time for all.
SONGWRITING BOOT CAMP
"The Marriage of Music and Lyric: songwriting building blocks"
Over the weekend we will explore ways of finding your song by working collaboratively and individually. Drawing from the right side of the brain, we will approach lyrical creativity through a series of writing exercises that are fun, inventive and spirited. These exercises are intended to expand your expressive palette by showing you how song lyrics work emotionally, visually and expressively. We will also concentrate on basic composition development through the employment of "families of chords" which will help you to find the perfect chords for your words and melody. If you are looking to find new chords, better chords, styles of playing that better express your intention, this class will help .
We will be writing songs both collaboratively and individually so bring a writing journal, a rhyming dictionary (if you have one) and your instrument. My goal is to help you reach deeply into your own creativity.
HOUSING OPTIONS
Pitch a tent on-site, park your RV at the county fairgrounds (hookups), park your RV on-site {electric only), locai B&Bs or hotel/motel.
MEALS
Three meals per day are included on-site with the cost of the wotkshop and concerts. The town of Langley is walking distance and has several nice restaurants and a small grocery store . Bring a blanket for evening events. The premises are wheelchair-accessible. and we're dog friendly! 1f you have special needs, p)ease notify us in advance.
COST
S200 includes all instruction, meals, on-site camping, plus my concert and the Hootenany. Payment by cash or check. 50% to reserve space and remainder on arrival. No refunds after July 15.
